Over three thousand titles of current and defunct magazines, journals, newspapers, and newsletters of local interest are available here at the History Center. Not only do we offer the local daily and weekly newspapers, but we have a substantial collection of newsletters published by local organizations, businesses, and neighborhood groups. You can find magazines that have been published by the local chamber of commerce, local real estate concerns, and, more recently, the technology industry. Several of our periodical titles are government publications: At Your Doorstep, Growth Watch, Travis County Daily Court Report. You may search the Austin Public Library online catalog to determine if we have a specific periodical that is of interest to you. Please note that many of our periodicals have not yet been cataloged and added to the library's online catalog, but a full list of our periodical holdings is available in the Reading Room.

The Center has, on microfilm, a complete run of the Austin American-Statesman since 1871. Except for the years from 1886 to 1955, indexes are available for this newspaper. Our Reading Room staff is always ready to help customers use these indexes to find articles.
